Description

Photograph of a 1/72 model (Italeri #146) of a Kaiser-Fraser (Fairchild) C-119G Flying Boxcar in the colours of the 20th squadron, 15th Wing of the Belgian Air Force.

The Fairchild C-119 was a cargo and troop transport aircraft which first flew in 1947. The Belgian Air Force operated a total of 46 C-119s between 1952 and 1973: 18 C-119Fs, and later 38 C-119Gs (with 8 Fs going to the Royal Norwegian Air Force, and the remainder of the Fs being converted to G standard).

CP-43 (callsign OT-CEC) originally was a Kaiser-Fraser-built C-119, with USAF serial number 53-8130. It was part of the last batch of 6 aircraft that was delivered in 1958, and flew until 1973, the year the type was replaced by the C-130H Hercules. After its withdrawal from service, CP-43 was flown to Koksijde Air Base, where it subsequently was dismantled and scrapped.
