Description

Disclaimer - I.N.U. Air Services is a virtual airline. Any resemblances with real companies are coincidental; any involvements with real companies, past or present, are purely fictional.]

May 12th 1947

A little over half a year after receiving its first Douglas C-47, I.N.U Air Services expanded its services with Dakota aircraft, including its first services to Northolt Airport in London*. Registered OO-CDD, this Dakota was purchased via agents from the USAAF's stocks, and entered service with INU-Air after refurbishing by Canadair of Montreal. Unlike its earlier stablemate OO-CDA, the later batch of three aircraft (OO-CDB, OO-CDC and OO-CDD) received an all-over bare metal finish, and were the first of the airline's fleet to carry the new "winged shield" logo.

The second variant of the DC-3s in INU-Air service, now also for FS9! Still need to finish a detail or two on these liveries, but I'll upload both versions soon. Remarkably, the FS9 version is a lot shinier than the FSX version, despite using the same alpha-textures... o_o

* [Built to replace London's antiquated Croydon Airport (closed 1959), the famous Heathrow Airport started civilian operations in 1946, but it was only completely operational as late as 1955. For much of the late 1940s and early 1950s, the airport was under construction. As a result, most civilian airlines were forced to fly out of nearby RAF station Northolt, an airfield just north of Heathrow, between 1945 and 1952.]

Is the registration meant to be an easter egg for OCD? Coz, that's clever.
