Taikōbō - Hōshin Engi


Ryu Fujisaki was born on March 10th 1971 in Mutsu, Aomori Prefecture, Japan.  He made his professional debut as a manga artist in 1990 with WORLDS.  His most famous work remains Hōshin Engi or Soul Hunter, which ran from 1996 to 2000, and which in turn was inspired by the Chinese literary classic Fengshen Yanyi, a shenmo (Gods and Demons fiction) novel.  It was adapted into an anime series (1999, 26 episodes) and a number of radio dramas, as well as five video games.

His most recent completed work is Shiki (2007-2011), which too was adapted into an anime (2010, 22 episodes).  Other than his manga work, he has also illustrated 4 light novels, and published 2 comprehensive art books.  For his debut work WORLDS, he received the 39th and 40th Tezuka Award.
