Hälge & Bobo
Lars Mortimer was born in Sundsvall, Sweden on March 22nd 1946. He studied art history in Uppsala, but eventually became a comic artist in the 1970s.
Beginning as the editor on the Semic comic books 91:an and Knasen between 1973 and 1978, he created the comic series Bobo in 1978, about a cucumber-loving Bear-troll. Subsequently he collaborated with Des Cox on Vattenhålet (Waterhole), a series about two hippo ladies published in Lilla Fridolf in the early 1990s. However, his best-known creation is the moose Hälge, a series which first appeared in 1991 in the Swedish newspapers Svensk Jakt and Åsa Nisse, subsequently appearing in several Swedish daily and evening newspapers, including Aftonbladet.
Unfortunately, Lars Mortimer passed away after a brief illness, aged 68, on August 25th 2014.
