Nana Osaki & Nana Komatsu - Nana

Ai Yazawa was born on March 7th 1967 in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.  Starting with publishing manga in 1985, she followed studies in a fashion school but dropped out before completing her degree.  Over 15 years, she published 10 series in the monthly Japanese shōjo manga magazine Ribon. Her most famous series include Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm Not an Angel, 1992-1995), Gokinjo Monogatari (Neighborhood Story, 1995-1998), Paradise Kiss (2000-2004), and Nana (2000-on hiatus).  The latter series was adapted as both an animé (2006-2007, 47 episodes), and two live-action films (Nana, 2005; and Nana 2, 2006).

Unfortunately, Ai Yazawa contracted an illness in 2009, which left her in hospital from June 2009 to April 2010.  It forced her to put her manga work on an indefinite hiatus.
