Movie Time Shik

Description

... Nadia always hated this part.  While being a filmstar had its perks, it was the makeup sessions that she hated the most about it all.  Having to sit countless hours in the makeup room for her transformation was boring, but the most awkward part was the fitting of her legs.

Granted, there was something weird about having to don another set of legs for her role, but it was... probably the only upside to that big downside in her life.  Nadia had to smirk at the irony, that the accident... no, being blown up by a landmine during a combat patrol was hardly an 'accident'... anyway, that it would have such positive consequences in the end.  But then again, if she hadn't been so persistent, if she hadn't believed in herself...

Nadia didn't want to think about that.  After all, it hadn't turned out that way, right?  And the funniest thing about it all was, that her legs gave her another perk, one many of her filmstar colleagues envied her for.  Being a Shik, a series-produced clone soldier, she was nearly indistinguishable from any other of her series, bar the few scars and burns she still had from when the mine exploded, it was so easy for her to go out shopping or partying without anybody recognising her.  But if she wore her movie prosthetics...

And yet, the set of legs that the assistant was now fitting to her was almost more than just a part of her costume.  She remembered how awkward the digitigrade legs were at first to wear, but she had soon grown accustomed to her, so much so that even running with them was hardly a bother.  They were so surprisingly easy, she could easily be tempted to wear them all the time if they didn't make her so recognisable...

A light cough distracted Nadia from the fitting.  Looking over her shoulder, the Shik actress' eyes met a familiar smile - "Hey Peori!  I see you're working on this film as well - got many scenes this time?"

"Ah yes!" the Kanyi-Klon youngster happily barked.  "I've got scenes in this film with... you never guess..."

"Darnlod Schwartzisegger!", Nadia nearly squeaked, "yes, I know!  I'm so surprised he agreed, I was so sad when he announced his retirement after his tenth Bog-Saga film!  Oh, if only I could have had some scenes with him..."

"Heh, in a way you have!", Peori yapped excitedly.  "After all... I'm playing the young 'you', and for me, you'll always be the one and only Pumori!"  Hearing that, Nadia could hardly help blushing, but in a way, Peori was right!  After all, this film would be her seventh one as Pumori - such a change from the "bit-part" roles she once had as a blown-up or injured Shik-soldier in those awful Mikhael Bray-directed sci-fi trash films...

'Shiks!' and ''The Forgotten Lands' ContestsEdit: Last days for the Shik contest! : D
First of all, unrelated news: 5.000 deviantwatchers and 1.500.000 pageviews! Many thanks to you all, Peoples of the Internet!
:iconworld-of-aiers:
My fellow deviants!
As after a long, long, loooong, inexcusable delay from my part with the Wanted: Kobolds! Contest, I had delayed with that not only the results of that contest -but the beginning of the next one!
The Poll Results for a theme weren't really completely conclusive: 85 persons answered the poll, and of them, 44% (37 deviants) said they would like to participate in a Science Fiction and -shiks!- of Ots contest, while the second preference was of a contest of the Fantasy age of Aiers, with a 33% and 28 votes:
The problem is, there was a second Fantasy option, set in the Second War of the Power, with a 11% of preferences and 9 votes!
That means, there was 37 votes for a sci-fi theme contest - and 37 votes for a fantasy

Interesting, is that Kanyi-Klon THE Pumori clone from previous stories and the Shik Movie Time pic?  Or was a series of Pumori clones developed?  In any case--she went to make movies! :)  Sort of appropriate given the Movie Time pic.

I like the shaggy hair and the wig of shaggy hair in the back.  Quite a difference between Pumori's wild child look, and the well groomed, clear combed and lined hair of the Pumori clone!

For all her problems, it's cool that the disabled shik gets to appear in movies as Pumori! :)

Very impressive short story and pic to go with it.  The two match up quite well!
