Scale comparison

... because comparing a model with the real thing can be fun.

106043 was a tanker car (type Zs) built for the Belgian State Railways in 1928.  At the end of its career, it was owned by BP Belgium and stationed at the Antwerp Kiel freight yard. She is preserved near the former maritime museum of Antwerp, on the banks of the Scheldt river.

501790 is... well, it seems Fleischmann just issued a random number for its model of a Belgian tanker car.  But she is similar in type as 106043, and depicts a tanker held by the Belgian Shell company, also stationed at the Antwerp Kiel freight yard. The model is 1/87 scale (H0 scale in railway modelling parlance), and it was issued as Fleischmann kit 542602B in 2009.  She is standing on an actual (disused) freight rail.
