While not as glorious or impressive as the mainline steamers of her era, the "Atlantic" Type 16 had a long life, doing passenger services on secondary and branch lines all over the country. Despite its antiquated looks, the Type 16 of 1905, of which 62 were built, would serve just shy of 60 years, with the last one of her type retiring from NMBS/SNCB service only in 1964.
Despite being on display in the CFV3V's museum, 16.042 is still owned by, and on loan from, the NMBS/SNCB.

Nice look it has! 4-4-2 tanks are handy little suburban locomotives, they're just as good forwards as back.
