Description
Treignes (Belgium), July 21st 2015
Proudly flying the Belgian flag on the Belgian National Day, 64-250, formerly of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, departs out of Treignes towards Mariembourg.
Built by the Henschel works at Kassel in 1933 as part of a class of 520 built between 1928 and 1940, 64-250 was a 1'C1' Class 64 locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. One of 393 machines of her class to survive the Second World War, she became one of 115 machines to end up with the East-German Deutsche Reichsbahn. She was sold for scrap in 1986, and picked up by the CFV3V (Chemin de Fer à Vapeur des Trois Vallées - Steam Railway of the Three Valleys), who subsequently fully restored her. She has worked for the CFV3V since 1994, and is one of only twenty of her class to have been preserved, and one of six still capable of working.

A beautiful machine, and thanks, too, for all the history of her and her class. Very informative.
