Yellow Submarine was a Beatles song first released on August 5th 1966, written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, with small additions by Donovan (Donovan Philips Leitch), and including lead vocals by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. This song later in turn inspired the musical animation film by the same name: Yellow Submarine, which was first released on July 17th 1968, and featured a cameo by the Beatles (their cartoon counterparts were in fact voiced by actors rather than the Beatles themselves).
For the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the song, LEGO, through its LEGO Ideas crowdfunding site, released Ideas set #015, originally conceived by Kevin Szeto and translated into a kit by LEGO designer Justin Ramsden. The kit includes the Yellow Submarine, as well as minifigures of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and the 'Nowhere Man' Jeremy Hillary Boob Ph.D.
