Asumi Kamogawa & Lion-san - Twin Spica

Kō Yaginuma was born in Iidabashi, Tokyo Prefecture, Japan on February 14th 1973.  In 2000, he debuted with the manga The Fireworks of 2015, which would go on to act as a prequel to his most known series, Twin Spica.

Twin Spica tells the story of a group of Japanese high school students training to become astronauts for Japan's second manned space flight - a decade after Japan's first manned flight ended in disaster.  Among the group of trainee astronauts is Asumi Kamogawa, whose mother died when the space rocket Lion crashed onto the city of Yuigahama, and who since has been able to see Lion-san, the ghost of one of the astronauts killed in the Lion disaster.

Running from 2001 to 2009, the manga spawned a 20-episode animé series in 2003 (which only covered the first 25 chapters); and a 7-episode live-action series in 2009.

Other than Twin Spica, Kō Yaginuma also illustrated the light-novel adaptation of the 2002 OVA Hoshi no Koe/Voices of a Distant Star, and published Gunryoku no Jiu which ran from 2010 to 2013.
